Strategy
For a Bright Future in Central Germany
Three German states, one common goal: Solarvalley Mitteldeutschland is the initiative to lead the competition against conventional fuels. The first milestone of grid parity should be achieved by 2012, which means that solar power will be more cost-effective than „power from the socket“. The German Federal Ministry for Education and Research sponsors Solarvalley Mitteldeutschland as a ‘cluster of excellence’ in Germany.
Three interconnected centres of focus are being pursued. The goal of technology development is to lower the cost of solar energy by innovation. The efficiency of solar installations must be improved and production costs must decrease. Likewise, the reliability of installations must improve and durability must be lengthened.
The rapidly increasing demand for specialist and managerial personnel that is expected in the solar industry must be satisfied with fresh concepts for education. The key is an integral transnational educational system that links education, skilled worker training, advanced training and retraining.
Cluster management is available to solar enterprises as a central starting point. It coordinates photovoltaic activities in the region and supports the expansion of the Solarvalley Mitteldeutschland Cluster.
